Gert Brantner, geboren 1975 in Graz, arbeitet als Musiker, Photograph & interdisziplinärer Medienkünstler. Er ist Gründungsmitglied des Vereins für experimentelle Datenverarbeitung XDV Wien/Berlin. Seit 1995 ist Gert Mitglied von farmersmanual, einer internationalen Gruppe von Künstlern, die als Vorreiter der experimentellen Computermusik und Struktur-Forschung im audio-visuellen Bereich gelten. Mittlerweile hat sich das Tätigkeitsfeld von farmersmanual auf die Bereiche interaktive Installationen und multisensorische Verstörungs-Applikationen erweitert.
1999 erhielt farmersmanual den Preis der New Media Jury of the Montreal International Festival of New Cinema and Media:
"The Jury would like to honour the pioneering work of Austrian Internet artists, farmersmanual, who have succeeded in making the cybernetwork into a Net Work of awe and beauty. Self-reflective and transparent, they mixmaster soundcollage, streamed video and interNetional automation. Connnecting in realive time to the wired world, this collective has expanded the true democratic impulse of the internet, allowing public intervention and contribution at all levels, from software to content. Although working on the outer bounds of New Media, they evoke the mesmerizing energy and wonder rarely seen since the earliest days of the invention of cinema."

2003 gründete Gert zusammen mit Verena Bayer bildbach. Einer der Schwerpunkte von bildbach ist die photographische Auseinandersetzung mit Formen, Strukturen & Materialien. Daraus entwickelte sich das Projekt "Stille Bilder", das sich gerade in Vorbereitung befindet. Es soll den Versuch darstellen, Ansätze der Phototheorie praktisch umzusetzen, wobei sich bildbach insbesondere von den Schriften Vilém Flussers leiten ließ.
